Hubballi Gears Up for 10th Half Marathon with ₹7.3 Lakh in Prizes!
Hubballi: Hubballi Fitness Club (HFC), a well-established trust founded by local runners and fitness enthusiasts, is set to host the 10th edition of the Hubballi Half Marathon on November 17, 2024. Building on the success of last year’s event, which saw over 5,000 participants, organizers expect an even greater turnout this year. A cash prize pool exceeding ₹7.30 lakh has been allocated for winners across various categories.
Online registration for the marathon has already begun, announced Dr. Arun Yalmali, one of the event’s organizers. He encouraged fitness enthusiasts from across the country to secure their spot in the race. The Hubballi Half Marathon is now an annual event held on the third Sunday of November, with HFC being the first group in the region to introduce timed running through its “Hubballi 10K Run” in 2015. This initiative has since evolved into the Half Marathon, gaining popularity each year.
Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, HFC managed to continue the event virtually in 2020 and 2021, ensuring that the community’s dedication to fitness remained strong. Over the past nine years, the organization has expanded its portfolio to include various events like the Hubballi 10K Run, Women’s Day Run, Doctor’s Day Run, and Millet Run. These events have been pivotal in fostering a marathon culture in Hubballi and other tier-2 cities, promoting fitness awareness, and encouraging participation for social causes.
HFC’s events have drawn national and international participants, including athletes from Kenya, Japan, and Tanzania. Beyond running, the club supports a range of fitness activities, including cycling, swimming, strength training, and yoga. The organization is also dedicated to social causes, focusing on health benefits and identifying talent from North Karnataka to represent India on national and international athletic platforms.
The upcoming Hubballi Half Marathon promises to be a significant event for runners and fitness enthusiasts alike, with HFC continuing its mission to promote an active lifestyle and support community health initiatives.
